HELLsinki Spring Classic: HKI - Porvoo HKI 2011

The road cycling season has been officially opened yesterday with the traditional Helsinki - Porvoo - Helsinki Spring Classic. Lots of people showed up for the 110km or so ride, second half of it against heavy wind as usual. Fun times!

Two dudes, two days, 300+km from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru (that's the Malaysian side border town next to Singapore, fyi). Respect. I've actually taken the train from JB to KL some six years ago and it took the whole damn day running through endless oil palm plantations but riding on the side of the highway doesn't look much nicer either.

And for the record: I don't smoke but this is one of my all-time favorite songs so if I did, I'd smoke only Chesterfield Kings. Yeah, I'm like that.

Laurent Fignon RIP

The two-time Champion of Tour de France, among many other victories during his career, Laurent Fignon, died today of cancer at the age of 50.

Rapha's Northern Hell

While the real Hell of the North, Paris-Roubaix, is on next Sunday, Rapha have their own ride travelling north from London (some Brits seem to sometimes consider Essex as Hell, I guess?) on the same day.

You already probably saw this everywhere but it is nice so I'm posting it too. Apparently it's the first road bike Kusaka-san built under the Kinfolk brand. Clean and classic. But remember also that this is not the first road bike he has built.
