Un Giro Di Sporco Sud 2010

Un Giro di Sporco Sud - The Film from Martin Lang on Vimeo.

"Un Giro di Sporco Sud 2010 - The Film

On April 24th 2010 the bike race »Un Giro di Sporco Sud« took place on countryside roads between Höör and Malmö in southern Sweden. 90 brave riders took part and started in the early morning. Almost as many as rode the whole 110 kilometres."

The Epic-est American Fixy Tour Continues

The trip advances, apparently. Feel free to come up with your own captions for the pictures. Riding up and down the mountains, getting h**h etc. Note also the 'support van'.

Helsinki - Borgaux 25.4.2010

I've talked about road cycling in the past, right? So, yesterday we did the official annual opening of the season road trip from Helsinki to the Porvoo and back, organized by BC-Hellsinki. Bit over 120km, about 5 hours of riding to Porvoo on the main road and back along some nice winding scenic small country roads. With some Kebab & pizza in between and beers afterwards. Bunch of people, girls and boys, on geared road bikes, CX bikes and track bikes came along. In Porvoo we also climbed up and descended the steepest pavéd hill street as a part of the tradition. Great fun.

Thanks to everyone on the ride and tnts for the pics!

London To Paris Hellsinki Screening

Some snaps by tnts from the London to Paris screening last night in Kannas. Basically everybody was there despite the arctic weather AKA 'blizzard of the year' outside. Was fun plenty but I cannot say much about the movie, though.

No, wait, I can at least try to sum up the movie:

Some international bunch of dudes met up in London and rode, like, real dope track bikes with drop bars, real heavy gearing and all for real long distances on some country roads, drank some beer and wore casual urban clothing while doing the 'trip'. In the end they arrived in Paris, saw the finish of Tour de France on Champs-Élysées and met with Lance Armstong. (Or I guess they met him? I didn't see that last part, though.) And I believe Nike sponsored some (if not all) of that. Now how cool - and even inspiring - is all that? ;)

Big Up! for Eki, tnts & My Cup of T for organizing the event.

Vitus ZX1

Did I just say something about geared retro road bikes being the next thing? Post-fixie Hipster road cycling, anyone?

If you're feeling me on this issue, here's something you just need to check out: a rare 1994 Vitus ZX1 Aero Carbon road bike on Ebay. All Campagnolo'd out and with double 'spoks. Hot 'ish. Even if I start sounding bit too much like AlanWMD, I'm like, whoah, my head is exploding, dude!

You can go bidding crazy HERE.

Rock'n'Rollin' Fixie Riders Club Ride: Paris - Chartres

Smell The Roses

Smell The Roses from zack mctee on Vimeo.

So, while this movie is not particularly spectacular by any means, it exemplifies one of THE up-and-coming cycling trends for 2010 (especially since Cyclocross season has officially finished already): the Hipster Road Cycling. Mark my words.

Damn, even I myself am secretly building a geared 1990s-styled retro steel road bike in the darkness of my hidden underground lair...
