"Kevyesti ja kovaa"

Janne and his bikes have grazed my blog as well as others many times, he's been seen on Finnish favorite sitcom and now he's made it to the newspaper press as well. Way to go!

NS Bikes Analog 2011

New and slightly revamped version of the NS Bikes Analog frameset for 2011:

"Based on a customer feedback the revamped frame received a couple of new features – mainly revised geometry and an integrated seat clamp. The 2011 version also has slightly longer dropouts with extra machining. The bottom bracket has been raised and the top tube lowered.

The NS Analog fork has also been modified for 2011. It now comes with more tasty and classic looking blades, an improved dropout interface and some more weight saving machining on the steer tube. The drop-outs are now 5mm thick and the fork is slightly lighter but just as strong as the previous model."

Having test ridden the original Analog I can say it is a super solid bike and the changes made on it sound like pretty nice tweaks. However, the components of the 2010 complete were mostly pretty shitty so let's hope the new one eventually comes with bit better parts on it.

Dislike

I always hated DC Shoes anyway.

Low is the New High // H+Son BOXXX

Brand new H+Son super low box section clincher rims, soon available polished and hard anodized in all normal drillings, and looking lovely.

So, these were officially first seen in the Interbike in Vegas two days ago but those in the know had been onto these for sometime already. I guess I need to point out that no one else out there is currently making anything as classic and classy as these. These will be big, mark my words.

Shout Out to The Champ: Andre Kivijarvi!

andre mash day from steven jensen on Vimeo.

Found this on ZLOG:

Andre Kivijarvi from Seattle recently took 2nd price at the roller race championships in Vegas. Judging by his name (that's 'Stone Lake' in English) the young champs' family is originally from Finland. Respect.

But also, please put a helmet on when doing jackass stuff like on the clip above. We don't want you to die, ok?

CRITICAL DIRT - A Study In Crossification

CRITICAL FILM from e r t z u i ° film on Vimeo.

"CRITICAL FILM - A documentary about a very special weekend of cyclocross racing. It only took 126 km of dirt, gravel and cobblestones devided in 4 stages between Dresden and Leipzig, 80 racers, 9 hours, 35°C, 600 liters of water, a ton of food, a world cup quarterfinal and many many enthusiastic souls, to make this an unbelievable experience.

They call it "CRITICAL DIRT - A Study In Crossification".

e r t z u i ° film has captured this event along the dirt with our very own perspective."

Can't Go Wrong w/ Red & Black: Chrome Kursk SPD Sneaker

SPD compatible updated version of the Chrome Kursk shoes, to be available in February 2011 or so.

I really haven't been fan of the style of Chrome shoes so far but they're heading to the right direction now, I'd say. But remember also the Mission Workshop Rondels.

Cinelli Vigorelli 2011

New colors for 2011, but supposedly only for the folks in the good ol' U.S. of A. Which is stupid. But I'm kinda digging the style, even if the Look 464 AL Piste will always look so much cooler.

Mission Workshop - European Online Store

I've probably just missed this the first time around but I just discovered that Mission Workshop has now an European Online Store operating in London. Flatrate shipping is offered to 'most locations within the EU', which will be in any case much better than having to order stuff directly from the States.

Besides their messenger bags they got nice looking backpacks, which I personally nowadays generally prefer over messenger bags any day, The Vandal and The Ramber, as well as the cool brand new SPD sneaker The Rondel. Unfortunately it seems that Rondels are Limited Edition and not available through the online store.

WARNING! DO NOT BUY OR RIDE MICHE PISTA CHAIN !!!

Because it SNAPS. It is not safe. Simple as that.

This Miche Pista 1/8" chain was basically brand new, less than a week and 100 kilometres old, not shortened (52x20t gearing) and just went snap! like that this morning when I was going down a hill on my commute. Nothing happened but I guess in theory I could have died.

You can always say maybe it was not installed right, it is not meant for street riding in the first place, this kind of thing happens, might be an isolated incident, the weak quick lock link must have failed, whatever. Not cool. So F**K YOU VERY MUCH FAC MICHELIN S.p.A. and your shitty products.

Also, in addition the same thing has happened recently to three people here in Helsinki alone, and if you Google this a bit, there are more similar reports out there. Plus, Paavo the Messenger has cracked two Miche Advanced Track driveside crank arms within last 18 months. Ok, he obviously haz dem power legs of steel so that might be a whole other story right there.
