Shop 14 Opening Party

Judging by the comments to my previous post about this new shop, some people have something against the 14 Bikes Company?

Well, I won't choose a side in this, it looks like a fine establishment to me and the people seemed to be having fun at the opening party.

Inside The Punch Cycle, Tokyo.

If you love fixed gear bikes, and in particular the Japanese Keirin bikes, and you're visiting Tokyo, there's at least one place you simply need to visit. And no, no matter what the fixed mag writes, it's not Carnival, although that's a cool shop too.

It's Kitajima-san's shop, Punch Cycle in Asakusa.

I also want to say Hi! to Yuki and all the cool people I met there. Arigato!

Geek Garage at DEPT Tokyo

GEEK GARAGE AND MATANKI NITE 2008 from Eli Tokyo Jitensha-Jin on Vimeo.

Here's a video from last Saturday's Geek Garage at DEPT & Mataki Nite. I was actually there and I will post plenty of pics later once I get my shit organized.

One thing that is not obvious from the video or the pics is the fact that the tricks contest was actually pretty much ruled by the BMX guys. They were THAT good. In my opinion none of the boys on the pisto bikes had much to say on that. The whole happening was pretty awesome. Nice bikes and great people.

Special cheers and thanks for the stickers & the Nitto parts to 3Bancho!

St*rfuckers Trick Bike From Tokyo

That's apparently a prototype of a new ST*RFUCKERS trick (yeah, not track) bike from Tokyo and it should be out soon. Very interesting.

Tokyo Bike Meet Up Videos

TBMU X !!!!! from Eli Tokyo Jitensha-Jin on Vimeo.

TBMU. Nice video, nice soundtrack.

And the latter part of video could probably be used as an ad for Knog's Frog lights, just as it is.

Here's another one, lower video quality though:

BMX Style Stem For A Road / Track Bike?

More fascinating goodies from the Blue Lug blog.

You've seen in the videos how some of  the Japanese dudes are already rocking BMX bars in their track bikes, right?

However, putting a standard old school BMX stem (which IMHO generally look pretty cool) in a road bike frame/ threaded fork shouldn't work as they are different size standards, and same goes for BMX bars and road stems, but now there appears to be a BMX-styled stem in normal road/track bike size. Apparently. It looks kinda neat. I want one.

More Kashimax Saddles In Mad Colors

Available from the one and only Tokyo's Blue Lug. Just remember that they are notoriously uncomfortable for most people.
