Electra Ticino // Hubs & Cranks

It seems that Electra is branching out from their cruiser bike stuff, which I honestly hate BTW, into more classic styled products with their new Ticino line.
Those hubs, apparently soon available both as fixed and 8/9/10 speed, look a lot like certain highly sought after Campy hubs of old. Does the name 'Sheriff Star' ring a bell? And they come with ceramic bearings, which is nice. But, funnily enough, the road hubs are NOT compatible with Campagnolo cassettes. Not much respect shown, then?
On the other hand, while the fluted cranksets don't appear to be quite so blatant copies of Nuovo Record but you can seen where the inspiration came from. What strikes me as bit odd here is why aren't they making those single speed cranks in 165mm lenght? Also, 135bcd is pretty stupid choice ATMO.
I've no idea when these will be available and what they will cost but they're all in the downloadable catalogue on their site.

Campagnolo BIG Cavatappi Oro
It goes without saying that wine and road cycling always go together, especially Italian cycling. So how about this:
This Campagnolo corkscrew was bought directly from the Campagnolo factory in Vicenza Italy in the early 80's but because of the price tag, 34,500 Lira, I believe it was produced and packaged much earlier. It is brand new and never been used. The "oro" corkscrews were discontinued for some years (in the 90's?) and then brought back into production. This corkscrew is from the initial line of production. It comes with the original instructions and documentation.
The Campagnolo corkscrew faithfully reflects the genius of its inventor, Tullio Campagnolo. In moments of difficulty, his genius, together with his great manual skill, always produced truly revolutionary inventions.
The Campagnolo corkscrew faithfully reflects the genius of its inventor, Tullio Campagnolo. In moments of difficulty, his genius, together with his great manual skill, always produced truly revolutionary inventions.
It's no coincidence that some considered him to be a latter-day Leonardo da Vinci.
A really awkward bottle and a corkscrew that wasn't up to the job were the cause of this new stroke of genius that has not been bettered since 1966.
The patented system of the telescopic self-aligning cover always places the screw in the central part of the cork. The large screw in hardened steel with a wide and sharp profile provides maximum grip on the cork and the two large levers enable the corks to be pulled out of bottles of the finest vintages without disturbing the sediments that are typical of such wines.
These technical features and the use of the finest raw materials have made this corkscrew a must, a symbol of genius that is recognized throughout the world."
How cool. And there's even BIN... of 1300 USD.
FYI: I'm no mathematician or economist and the Italian Lire doesn't of course exist anymore but if it did, the 34 500 Lire would equal today something like 23 dollars.

Vendo Bici Pista

It seems that the boys behind the Pistamania have yet another new blog up and running, for - now wait for it - selling Italian track bike goodies, both old & new, directly from Italy. Nice!
I really hope they will become as cool as Rene's and Gabe's blogshops are for the Japanese track stuff. Classic Italian pista-everything is the way to go, that's my personal prediction for 2009 anyway.
Check out Vendo Bici Pista here.

Campy Toolbox Of Dreams: $2,222.00

You remember this toolbox? Well, it's not the same one I posted earlier but similar to that and the auction is closing very soon, you're probably too late already. But it certainly is not going to sell cheap. Damn.
